Life Lessons by a 3yo

Sempi is driving a toy fork lift with a load. Sempi: Appa I got a package for you. Me: OK, can I have it? Sempi: No! (Then drives away). Lesson learned, life can be hard sometimes, get used to it. Except, I am the one supposed to teach him life lessons.

3yo and God

We’re at our ancestral village attending a family function. The priest is chanting the mantras at the top of his voice. Sempi: Appa, why is he yelling at us? Me: He’s not yelling Sempi, he’s chanting. Sempi: Why? Me: He’s summoning God. Sempi: There is no God. Me: Hahaha. Who told you that? Sempi: You did. I don’t remember teaching him that, but I’m proud he got the message. :)

Pickles

Sempi loves pickles. He’d eat them at every chance. We’re at an indoor play place in Chennai. We ordered some fried potato wedges. When they were delivered, Sempi exclaims “Appa, I found bread pickles”.

Conversations with a 3yo

We’re at a park in India. Sempi is sitting on a teeter-totter looking contraption. He’s looking for a partner for the other side. Sempi: Amma can you sit on the other side? Yoshi: I’m too big to sit on that side Sempi. Sempi: Appa, can you sit on that side? Me: I’m flattered that you think I’m smaller than your mom. But I’m still too big. Sempi: Maybe when you’re flatter you can sit on the other side....
